Bobbi Brown Makeup of the Day

Image

I used primarily Bobbi Brown makeup for this look. The above products were my stars of the show. They include from left to right: the Bobbi Brown BB cream with SPF 35 in Light, the Matte Lipstick in True Pink, the gel eyeliner in a dark brown color, and the Navy and Nude Palette!

Here is the look!

Image

I love how natural it looks and how it just perfects my complexion. I am a big fan of Bobbi Brown and all she stands for. I love that she believes in enhancing your own beauty and not covering it up or changing it to something else!

I also love how the eyes turned out, I used the gel eyeliner and the navy shade to smoke it out a little. The lipstick really looks like my natural lips!

I am really happy with this look and can’t wait to try more from this line!

Empties #2

Yay! I have gone through more products and wanted to show you my trash! Enjoy!

Image

First I used up these little samples. I loved both but would not go out and buy them. Daisy is too light for my liking and Narcisco Rodriguez is a little too powdery but they are great for every day if you like a lighter scent!

I have a few different body washes here and the one in the green bottle is from Target and it smells so good! It is from a brand called Apotheke:M and this was the guava flavor… I will repurchase this sometime because it smells divine. However, it is a little pricey for a body wash. I also loved the Sweet body wash from Bath and Body Works and would repurchase. The Champagne and Strawberries from Victoria’s Secret.. not so much. It smells more grown up and too sultry for my liking. I know some people really enjoy this scent though.

I use a cleanser in the shower for my face daily so this one from Clean and Clear was nice but I am using the exfoliating peach scrub one from St. Ives right now and I like it better.

Lastly, two products I was sad to use up. One the Aveda Color Conserve shampoo and second, the Alterna CC cream sample from Sephora. I have never cut open a product to get every last drop but I did with this and guys, if you are looking for a great product that smells good, detangles, moisturizes, protects from heat, and leaves hair soft, this is your product. The full size is around 22 dollars only at Sephora and yes I will get my hands on that baby soon!

Finally, my makeup and beauty trash. I would definitely and have repurchased the Rimmel Stay Matte powder and the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray. These two items are something I use everyday. I also used up some mascaras both were good but I am trying others out right now so I won’t be repurchasing. I also used up a Fresh rose tinted balm, actually it broke and had to depot it but it is empty now. I like the fresh lemony scent it has and the rose tint is very nice.

Well, that is it for this round. Stay tuned for more!

Beauty Things I Suck At!

Let’s be honest, everyone has things they have a hard time doing and in the beauty world that sometimes can be double. Personally, I think it is fun to admit to the things I have trouble doing and it makes me feel better about it. Nobody is perfect so here we go!

1. Winged eyeliner: I think this could go for the majority of girls. It is not easy, and I have really small set eyes that are slightly hooded so a winged look doesn’t really suit me and when I try… well lets just say I don’t try often. …Fail….

2. Eyebrows: I am lucky to have pretty full eyebrows that I don’t really have to much, but I suck at shaping them and barely try.

3. Shaving my legs: I try to do a good job of this, but always end up missing a section somehow..

4. False lashes: Seriously, every time I try they end up too long or too high, they never look natural. The glue I use doesn’t really keep them in place either. I want to try the individual ones sometime and see if that helps!

5. Applying a dark lipstick, I have gotten better at this but somehow, I always end up getting lipstick on my teeth at some point during the day, even if I do the finger trick.

6. Contouring: I am really pale so if I try and dedicate a lot of time to contouring, I tend to look like an umpa lumpa. ( Very orange)

7. Nail polish: I tend to get lazy and hate for them to dry, I also always end up smearing or scuffing the nail.

8. Curling my hair, I don’t know why but I always get the kink from the curling iron, that or I look like Shirley Temple.

9. Braiding, I am horrible, I can barely do a normal braid none the less a fishtail! Honestly, I love the way they look but ahhh!!!

10. Dying my hair: I can do a box dye, but it never turns out and usually makes my hair ashy..

So there you have it, I love beauty and all things makeup, but that don’t make me an expert however, I firmly believe:

Benefit Review and Miranda Kerr

I am a little obsessed with Miranda Kerr as of late. I just think she is gorgeous and really want to try out her line, however, at the moment that will have to wait. Kora Organics is freaking expensive!

I have, however, been looking up her beauty tips and secrets and have found a few very useful. First she uses the Becca skin perfector in Opal which I own so I was really excited. She also uses a bright blush to give her cheek bones that extra umph. She also loves her red lip and usually wears a discontinued shade of Chanel Coco Shine in Rebelle.

I took what I had learned and came up with this look.

I highlighted my cheeks and used a Revlon lip stain in Enticing ( one of the new lacquer balms). I also used a red/pink blush from Dior in Happy Cherry.

For the eyes, I kept it simple and since I had a follower ask about the Bright Eyes Pallete from Benefit I used that and thought I’d do a mini review.

It comes with three perfect shades for an everyday look. An allover lid color, a crease color and could work for brows if you have darker ones, and shimmery pink color for highlight. It also comes with eye bright which is great for highlighting the brow and can be used as a primer. This is great for travel as well!

Hope you enjoy my Miranda Kerr inspired look!

New Products (Mary Kay)

I personally, am on the fence when it comes to Mary Kay products. I like the skin care and some makeup, however, it always come up a little short and I never am fully impressed. That being said I got a chance to try some new products out today and I wanted to let you know my thoughts.

First I tried out the new cleanser brush they have. It is similar to the Clarisonic, however, at 50 dollars for a similar product it is a great buy! I was impressed on how it made my skin feel and could see this brush being a great part of my cleansing routine. I wish it came with other brush heads though, at the present it only comes with two of the same brush head. The cleanser does have two settings though which is a nice feature.

I also tried out some skincare and was highly impressed with the eye cream from the repair collection. It is a stiffer eye cream but I could feel it working right away  same with the lifting serum, that stuff is awesome!

Next, I got to play with makeup! I put on a primer that was nice, it is silicone based so for some people they may not prefer it. I then put on a tinted moisturizer and really enjoyed it. It left my skin very dewy not too oily and then set it with the translucent powder in the center of my face and in the T zone. I added a little bronzer which was a combination of two bronzer duos one was matte and one was shimmer,I then put eyeshadow on and used the new shimmery shadows as a top coat, note: these have major fallout so pat them on the eye with your finger. I like them for a night out look that is for sure! I lined my eyes with the two limited edition liners one was a mauve color and the other was a gold that worked perfectly on the lower waterline.

I added the Lash Love mascara and the lipgloss from their holiday play collection for 10 dollars and was good to go!

Here is the final look! I was impressed with some of the newer products and may even pick some up!

Love Letter to Beauty

Image

I get asked this sometimes, mainly from my dad. He always says I don’t need it and you are beautiful the way you are. I completely agree with him. I am comfortable enough to go without it if I choose. However, I love two features on my face the most, my cheekbones, and my eyes and wearing makeup emphasizes them. It lets me highlight the things I love.

I also am an artist at heart. I love to draw and paint and whenever I have a paintbrush in hand I will paint anything around me. I have even been found to take some pink paint on a brush and add a little color to my furniture, even the cat tower has some paint on it. With this love for color, I have found a perfect niche in makeup. I love coming up with new ways to blend out an eye and make it look like art. I honestly enjoy working with the colors and trying new colors out.

I also know that two products are not always created equal. This is why I love trying and testing new products out. I just love getting a chance to talk about them as well and is why I love this blog and this blogging community. We all get each other!

Thanks for following and all the feedback and ideas you share!
